Meso-NH forecast system for TROCCINOX
The Tropical Convection, Cirrus and Nitrogen Oxides experiment (TROCCINOX) is an European project that investigates the impact of tropical deep convection on the distribution and the sources of trace gases, cloud and aerosol particles focusing on processes in the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere.
During the TROCCINOX field-phase, the Laboratoire d'Aérologie (UPS/CNRS) using the computer resources allocated by IDRIS (CNRS) produces once a day 48 h Meso-NH forecasts to help:
  1. identifying situations favoring deep convection over a mesoscale domain centered over Bauru;
  2. offering some guidance for aircraft operations and balloon take-off planning.
A set of passive tracers is provided to help identifying air-mass origins over a 24 hour range in the Bauru and Gavião Piexoto (airport) areas.
