Download surface files
For a standard use of Meso-NH, you need 4 files (GTOPO30, clay_fao, sand_fao and ECOCLIMAP), all of them with hdr and dir suffixes.
The disk space needed to store the files is about 3 gigabytes.
All the surface files are compressed by gzip (i.e. in a "gz" format). You have to gunzip all your files using the command "gunzip *.gz"
You can extract the file either by following the links given below or using wget
wget -rc --no-directories -A".gz" http://mesonh.aero.obs-mip.fr/mesonh/dir_interne/dir_LINUX/dir_PGDFILES
If needed use
wget --http-user=USER --http-password=PASS
